Waltz’s team set up at least 20 Signal group chats for crises across the world

A Headquarters in Wyoming Unites Workplace and Community

A Headquarters in Wyoming Unites Workplace and Community

With an abandoned concrete block Kmart building in EMIT Technologies’ real estate portfolio, CEO Casey Osborn envisioned a modern headquarters for the metal fabrication company in Sheridan, Wyoming. CLB Architects was tapped to transform the former big-box structure into a nearly 120,000-square-foot campus.

Modern building designed by CLB Architects, featuring a rust-colored exterior wall and vertical panels, bordered by a sidewalk and trees with yellow leaves under a clear blue sky.

The new headquarters consolidates the operations of four existing fabrication facilities and adds office space plus a host of amenities accessible to staff and the general public. “Rather than designing disparate spaces to support an office community, we integrated all of the sectors of business into one structure,” says Eric Logan, partner at CLB Architects.

Designed by CLB Architects, the modern building features a rust-colored facade, harmoniously set amidst lush trees and grass under a clear blue sky.

A laser-perforated scrim, custom-made by the EMIT group, envelops the old and new architecture, a nod to the the materials and methods found within. Courtyards are places of respite that allow users to easily connect with nature.

Designed by CLB Architects, the modern building boasts a rust-colored metal exterior and large glass windows. A landscaped courtyard invites visitors, while two blurred figures stroll along a concrete pathway under a detailed metal overhang.

On the front of the edifice, the suspended facade lifts upward to welcome employees and visitors into an expansive lobby. This entrance not only sets the tone for the entire experience, it is also emblematic of EMIT’s “no collar” workforce where all are equal. Staff members enter and exit through one door, and a range of areas, from flex spaces to the library, encourage collaboration and the exchange of ideas among individuals at every level.

The hub also includes sections where industrial and administrative staff can connect during the workday. A basketball court, coffee station, auditorium, and even a barbershop are some of the available amenities. Many of these offerings are also utilized by locals and employees’ families. It is a year-round center for both work and recreation, ideal when temperatures drop during the winter months.

The modern lobby, designed by CLB Architects, features a curved, dark reception desk with a marble top. A vase with yellow flowers adds a splash of color. Wooden ceiling panels and glass walls set the background as a person walks by.

The interior view of this modern building, a stunning creation by CLB Architects, features large windows that beautifully reflect the lush green outdoors while flooding the space with natural light.

The machine floor is accessible from the office headquarters through a shared lobby, where there is an interplay between the interior finishes. Raw, industrial materials are paired with a blend of matte and textured surfaces for contrast that echoes the landscape of the Rocky Mountain West. Several of the furnishings and details were specially produced in-house, including workstations, chairs, ceiling panels, and screens made from birch plywood and powder-coated black steel.

The modern office space, designed by CLB Architects, features a wooden ceiling, large windows, lounge chairs, and a communal table. Two people sit at the table in this spacious, well-lit environment.

Designed by CLB Architects, this modern interior features a large mountain mural, a sleek black sofa, and a contemporary chandelier. The scene comes alive with two people in motion, while a striking metal staircase sets the stage in the foreground.

The modern office lobby, designed by CLB Architects, features two dark sofas and an orange coffee table under sleek pendant lights. A blurred person walks by as workshops are visible through the windows, illuminated softly by a white floor lamp.

In an industrial workshop scene designed by CLB Architects, workers expertly operate equipment amidst the welding of steel beams. The space is illuminated by overhead lighting, while shelves neatly line the walls, showcasing a blend of functionality and architectural finesse.

Kids enthusiastically play volleyball indoors, coached under CLB Architects' beautifully designed space, featuring a polished wooden floor, expansive windows, and bright overhead lights.

A standout piece, FILTER (seen below on the left), is located at a city park adjacent to the headquarters. This sculpture was created by the CLB and EMIT teams for the NYCxDESIGN Festival in 2022. Displayed in Times Square during the yearly event in Manhattan, the artwork highlights craftsmanship and invites viewers to appreciate it in a new way, just like the headquarters does. “It’s gratifying to see the community come together and engage here, and to celebrate the process of making,” Logan adds.

It usually starts on the road somewhere. An officer pulls you over for some minor infraction — changing lanes without proper signalling, following the car ahead too closely, straddling lanes. The offence is irrelevant.

Then the police officer wants to chat, asking questions about where you’re going, or where you came from, and why. He’ll peer into your car, then perhaps ask permission to search it, citing the need for vigilance against terrorist weaponry or drugs.

What he’s really looking for, though, is money.

And if you were foolish (or intimidated) enough to have consented to the search, and you’re carrying any significant amount of cash, you are now likely to lose it.

The officer will probably produce a waiver, saying that if you just sign over the money then the whole matter will just disappear, and you’ll be able to go on your way.

Refuse to sign it, and he may take the cash anyway, proclaiming it the probable proceeds of drugs or some other crime.

Either way, you almost certainly won’t be charged with anything; the objective is to take your money, not burden the system.

Wunderschöne Formulierung! Wie in alten US-Kriminalserien! Hammer, Sie haben schon wieder 20 Passanten erschossen! Was das wieder für einen Papierkram macht!1!!
