Nachdem wir gestern schon mit Disco durch die Zeit gereist sind, sorgt Pyrococcus heute für derbe 80er Flashbacks. Das fühlt sich an, als würden wir dienstagabends in der Stube auf der Couch sitzen und vorm Röhrenfernseher auf Miami Vice warten. Und genau so klingt es auch. Wenn Klang Farben hätte, wären diese hier alles mit Neon. Und natürlich mit dem obligatorischen Saxophon. So als ob jemand einen Computer gefragt hätte, wie gute Laune klingt. Eine Party zwischen Mensch und Mikrochip am kleinen Freitag.

Für mich war die Nachricht über den Waschbären neulich, der in einen Schnapsladen eingebrochen war, dort randalierte, sich schön einen reingestellt hatte und dann besoffen neben dem Klo eingepennt ist, ja einer der besten Nachrichten seit langem. Des Jahres sogar. Jetzt hat jemand ihm und seinen Trash-Buddies einen Song gewidmet.

Puh. Ganz schön spät geworden gestern früh geworden heute Morgen. Und dolle auch. Aber Geburtstage wollen halt auch angemessen gefeiert werden. Ihr kennt das womöglich.

Kommen wir jetzt zu etwas anderem: Disco. Genau genommen Italo Disco. Ich hatte eigentlich nie sonderlich viel übrig für Disco, bis ich ihn vor ein paar Jahren dann doch für mich entdeckt hatte. Manchmal ein bisschen bis ein bisschen dolle cheesy, aber genau das hat mir dann doch den Spaß daran gemacht und dann spiele ich heute dann doch mal den ein oder die anderen Disco-Tune. Nicht so konsequent, wie Thyrie aus Greifswald das mit diesem Mix hier tut, aber sie ist halt auch richtige Expertin in dem Genre. So sehr, das sie so ein Ding vor „Disco“ noch mit „Italo“ zu kuratieren und zu mixen weiß. Und das macht verdammt viel Spaß – und auch ganz schön viel Bock auf Urlaub in … Na ihr wisst schon. Und wer will den denn bitte nicht?! Siehste.

Es ist jetzt über sieben Jahre her, als ich das letzte Mal beim Liquid Sound Festival „Unterwassermusik“ spielen und aufnehmen konnte. Irgendwie lagen dann Corona und andere Terminlichkeiten im Weg, um das mal wiederholen zu können. Nun aber am 01.11.2025 hatte ich dann mal wieder diese Möglichkeit, in Bad Sulza für Schall unter Wasser sorgen zu können. Und es war wieder ein Mal mehr lieblingsweltschönst. Musikalisch halt eine ganz andere Welt, atmosphärisch eh. So voll jedenfalls habe ich die Therme nachts bisher auch noch nie gesehen.

Und ich dachte, wenn ich schon mal da war und aufgenommen habe, bietet es sich ja an, die 5. Unterwassermusik zu meinem Tag (Gott sei Dank, noch keine 50!) hinter mein Türchen zu legen. Musik, wie ich sie unter Wasser halt gerne hören wollen würde. Von allem bisschen und ganz zum Schluss „The Ancient Sounds of the God“. Immer noch ein unfassbar epischer Tune.

Mein Auswärtsreinrutschgeburtstag am Meer endet hier jetzt erstmal und ich mach mich auf den Weg nach Hause. Auf diesem wird dann dieser Mix laufen. Passt zeitlich auch ziemlich genau. Stimmung thermal.

I got a tip yesterday from an anonymous US army officer that the US government was about to break new ground in authoritarian dumbassery. The officer had logged into his work computer in the morning, and got a popup:

GenAI.mil. Victory belongs to those who embrace real innovation, not the antiquated systems of a bygone era. It’s time to deliver efficient, decisive results for the warfighter. I want YOU to use AI.

Then he clicked on the “close” button and it played a video from defense secretary Pete Hegseth, telling you how much AI is the future: [Twitter]

The future of American warfare is here. And it’s spelled AI.

… At the click of a button, AI models on GenAI can be utilized to conduct deep research, format documents, and even analyze video or imagery at unprecedented speed.

The popup also had a link to genai.mil/launch — which didn’t work.

GenAI.mil was giving an error message yesterday, but now has a nice splash page saying it’s for internal use only and you should join the army for access.

The logo, like all chatbot logos, looks like a butthole. The stylised text font looks somewhere between the ‘70s NASA worm logo and one of the Starship Troopers movie fonts. Hegseth is the guy who saw Starship Troopers and didn’t realise it was a satire of guys like him.

The actual chatbot is an instance of Google Gemini, running on a secured cloud with restricted access for unclassified work. The press release is titled “The War Department Unleashes AI on New GenAI.mil Platform” and has a lot of Hegseth talking like a game trailer: [press release]

Gemini for Government is the embodiment of American AI excellence, placing unmatched analytical and creative power directly into the hands of the world’s most dominant fighting force.

… Their achievement directly embodies the Department’s core tenets of reviving the warrior ethos, rebuilding American military capabilities, and re-establishing deterrence through technological dominance and uncompromising grit.

Google’s press release was a bit less bombastic and somewhat longer on specific claimed uses: [press release]

summarizing policy handbooks, generating project-specific compliance checklists, extracting key terms from statements of work, and creating detailed risk assessments for operational planning.

There’s one small problem you or I might spot immediately — chatbots are most famous for making stuff up. Chatbots don’t summarise text — they shorten it. Chatbots miss important details, especially anything unusual, and they reverse meanings.

That’s tolerable precisely as long as quality doesn’t matter. If you’re absolutely sure nobody will read this document, AI is just the thing.

But this is the military, so it’s not like details matter or lives are on the line if you’re out in the field and get a sheet of instructions that are completely detached from reality.

Just as long as the AI industry gets the golden prize, the final stage of capitalism — a defense contract!

If anyone goes to trial for, say, war crimes? The chatbot told me. I was just following orders. I hear that one works every time.

Google suspended a mobile app developer’s accounts after he uploaded AI training data to his Google Drive. Unbeknownst to him, the widely used dataset, which is cited in a number of academic papers and distributed via an academic file sharing site, contained child sexual abuse material. The developer reported the dataset to a child safety organization, which eventually resulted in the dataset’s removal, but he claims Google’s ban has been "devastating.”

A message from Google said his account “has content that involves a child being sexually abused or exploited. This is a severe violation of Google's policies and might be illegal.”
